Supreme Court don tok say make dem dey use di old N500 and N1,000 note but customers no gree collect am from banks, as Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Federal Government never still tok anything.

Supreme Court don tok say make we start to dey use di old N500 and N1,000 again till 31st of December, 2023, but pipo for market, bank and oda places no gree collect am and di main reason why pipo no gree collect di old money na say Federal Government and di Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, never tok for di court judgement.

As for now, banks don start to dey do cash withdrawal limits wey be N100,000, dis one mean say di highest moni wey one persin go fit withdraw for one week na N100,000, but na old naira note dem dey use pay and plenty of di customers no gree collect am.

As one persin wey dey work for one of di big banks tok, customers dey tok say dem must hear from CBN or Federal Government before dem start to dey collect di old N500 and N1,000 notes again.

As di persin wey be di oga of one of all dis big bank branch still tok say: “Customers wey come my branch today no gree collect di old N500, or  N1,000 notes. Dem say pipo no dey collect di moni and me sef, go try am. I give somebody di old N1,000 note to go one popular restaurant for Lagos to buy me rice, but the restaurant no gree collect am. I still give anoda persin di old N500 to use am enter public bus to see whether drivers and bus conductors go collect am, but di persin come back, come tell me say dem no still gree collect am.

For di case of di old N200 banknote, President tok and everybody obey am. So why dem no dey tok anything now? Di customers dey tok say make  President Muhammadu Buhari or CBN Governor tok say dem gree for wetin Supreme Court judge.

When dem ask di Acting Director of the Corporate Communication Department, CBN, Dr. AbdulMumin Issa, him tok say, ''Dem no get any official statement for di old N500 and N1,000 notes.”

Wetin happen for Lagos still happen for Ibadan wey be di State capital of Oyo, yesterday, as bank customers tok say dem no go collect di old banknotes from deir banks since banks bin tok on Monday say dem dey wait make CBN or di President tok before dem go start to dey give out di old banknotes. So dem dey wonder why banks come dey give pipo di moni now, when Government or CBN never tok anything.

One staff for anoda big bank tell Vanguard say, her bank don start to dey give di old banknotes because on Monday CBN send back di old Naira note wey dem bin go deposit for di Oga patapata of all banks last week.

She tok say, she sef withdrawal  N30,000, wey she won use for her personal spending, but regret am as she no fit use am do anything, as pipo wey dey sell market no gree collect am and public transport pipo no gree collect am too.

“I withdraw N30,000 old naira notes but sadly I come dey stranded when I won pay di okada man wey carry me and as him reject am. Since na di only money wey I get, as dis scarcity of new naira notes affect me too, I gats call somebody wey bring di new N500 for me to take settle di bike man.”

She tok say na true say CBN never tok say make we dey use di old N500 and N1000 as Supreme Court judgement tok, but hope still dey say di situation go dey better in few days time.
