Husseini forbade the dissemination of unclassified content in a statement

It is illegal to release music videos, skits, and movies without the proper classification, according to the National Films and Videos Censors Board, or NFVCB.

By classifying audiovisual content according to age ratings and content advisories, the NFVCB helps families make educated viewing decisions and shields kids from inappropriate content.

In a previous interview with DAILY POST, NFVCB Director General Shaibu Husseini announced that music videos and skits would now be subject to the board's expanded classification requirements.

Husseini forbade the dissemination of unclassified content in a statement that was made available on Wednesday.

Distributing or showing any kind of video or film content, including musical videos and skits, on any platform without first obtaining a classification from the National Film and Video Censors Board is also illegal.

"To ensure that any individuals and production companies involved face the full wrath of the law, we are working with relevant security agencies to track them down," he declared.

The board further declared that it was unlawful to openly display same-sex relationships in Nigeria and denounced the promotion and dissemination of same-sex content online.
