Nigerian rapper Oladips has leveled accusations against Grammy-winning artist Wizkid, claiming that he has engaged in intellectual property theft.
Oladips contends that Wizkid incorporated elements of the lyrics from his track ‘Ajala Travel remix’ into his recent collaboration with Asake, titled ‘MMS.’
The rapper posted screenshots comparing the lyrics of both songs on his Instagram account.
In response to a fan who suggested that sampling is a common practice, Oladips maintained that it should only occur with proper authorization.
He stated, “It is acceptable if you credit the original source! It is not right to act as if you are unaware of the original artist while secretly using their lyrics.”
However, social media users have since criticized Oladips on his claims, as they didn't see that as a copyright issue.
As of now, Wizkid has not publicly addressed these allegations.
