UNICEF Dey Beg Kano Make Dem Declare Emergency For Polio Mata As Three Local Government Area Don Record New Cases.

United Nations International Children’s Fund (UNICEF) don call on Kano State government make dem declare state of emergency for polio and regular immunisation because the sickness don show face again for the state.

UNICEF don talk say 18 polio cases don show face for nine states for Nigeria this year, and three of dem dey inside Warawa, Bunkure, and Nassarawa Local Government Areas for Kano.

UNICEF dey beg Kano State Government make dem release enough and quick money wey dem suppose contribute for regular immunisation and the polio vaccination campaign wey go happen from April 24 go reach April 30, 2025.

Mr. Michael Banda, wey be Senior Education Manager and the person wey dey in charge of UNICEF Field Office for Kano, talk all this one during media talk about Polio and Routine Immunisation wey happen for Kano on Tuesday.

As him dey represent Mr. Rahma Rihood Mohammed Farah, wey be the Chief of UNICEF Field Office Kano, Banda talk say this time still match with the World Immunisation Week.

UNICEF also beg local government chairmen make dem put body well well for the campaign — make dem do local flag-off events, dey supervise how the vaccination dey go, and join for the daily review meetings.

Dem also remind the LG chairmen make dem no forget the promises wey dem make for the Kaduna meeting earlier this year to support immunisation work.

As Banda react to the polio wey don come back again, him talk say, “This one no good at all and we must stop am,” as polio na disease wey dey spread quick and fit cause person to paralyze or even die.

UNICEF come beg traditional and religious leaders for Kano make dem ginger their people to support the vaccination, and make media help scatter any fake news and encourage everybody to join the campaign.

UNICEF warn say if polio break out for any area, e go still put children for other places at risk. “Polio no dey respect border and e dey spread fast,” dem talk.

To show how vaccine don help people, Banda talk say immunisation don save 154 million lives for all over the world in the last 50 years, but say the low number of people wey dey take vaccine fit spoil the good work wey don already dey.

UNICEF still call make government fully do the policy of “One Functional Primary Healthcare Centre Per Ward,” say na through strong immunisation we fit stop future outbreaks.

As World Immunisation Week this year dey focus on the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), UNICEF beg Nigerian authorities make dem invest well for HPV vaccination to protect girls from cervical cancer.

Banda talk say, “Vaccines dey, dem safe and dem dey work well — na the key to future wey no go get sickness like polio, cervical cancer, and measles.”
