House of Reps don pass bill for second reading wey go give full local government status to the 37 Development Area Councils for Lagos State.
If dem pass this law, e go increase the number of Local Government Areas (LGAs) for Lagos from 20 go reach 57, wey go make the total LGAs for Nigeria jump to 811.

The proposed amendment to the 1999 Constitution (as amended) wan officially recognize the extra LGAs, so dem fit get full administrative and financial freedom.
Clause 3 of the bill wan amend First Schedule, Section 3, Part 1, Item 24, make e include the 20 existing LGAs for Lagos State. Clause 4 come propose make dem upgrade the 37 Development Area Councils to full LGAs, including places like Ikorodu North, Ojodu, Lekki, Iru-Victoria Island, Ejigbo, and others.
According to the bill sponsors, this move go improve governance, make service delivery better, and help distribute resources well across Lagos State.
