FEC Approve $1.07 Billion to Boost Health Sector, And N4.8 Billion for HIV Treatment

Di Federal Executive Council (FEC) don approve $1.07 billion to better Nigeria health sector under di Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) program.

Dem also arrange another N4.8 billion to buy HIV treatment packs, as government dey show say dem serious to make health care for di country better.

How di Money Go Work

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of di Economy, Wale Edun, talk say di money go come from International Development Association (IDA), wey be World Bank concessional financing arm. Di funding include two concessional loans of $500 million each plus extra $70 million grant from international donors.

Di Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, explain say di HOPE program go help di government improve:
Primary health care and health sector governance
Recruitment, training, and retention of health workers and teachers
Emergency maternal and child health services

HIV Treatment and Foreign Policy Impact

As part of di plan to better di health sector, FEC don give carry go on top N4.8 billion to buy 150,000 HIV treatment packs wey dem go share over di next four months. Minister Pate talk say di government dey serious to make sure say people wey get HIV, go continue to get treatment without wahala.

FEC also discuss di recent U.S. policy changes wey fit affect Nigeria HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria programs. To make sure say funding no cut, government don form multi-ministerial committee wey include people from Finance, Health, Defense, and Environment Ministries plus Governors’ Forum to work on sustainability plan.

"We no go allow anybody wey dey treatment make e suffer," Pate assure, as e talk say Nigeria go still dey work with di U.S. but also focus on raising local money for health care.

Other Government Approvals

FEC also approve N20 billion for projects under Nigeria Customs Service, including:
🚗 Buy compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles
🏗️ Build forward bases for remote areas
⚖️ N1 billion life insurance for Customs officers
